Cosmetic Dentistry - General Information

Dentistry is a branch of medicine, which deals with oral sanitation, preventing, diagnosing and treating oral diseases. Cosmetic dentistry is a more peculiar area, which nowadays grows quickly and becomes one of the most popular. It deals with the improving of appearance. While general dentistry is a necessity, its cosmetic category is a way to improve the look of your mouth, smile and teeth. It is a personal thing and it depends only on the personal choice.

Another advantage of cosmetic dentistry, besides improving the harmony of the form, proportions and contours, is restoration. Some years ago, you would hardly find a dental filling, which will not spoil the look of your teeth somehow. Amalgam would leave grey spots, not mentioning, that it was high-toxic solution, as it included quicksilver. Gold couldn’t be covered by anything, so you would lack the ability to have a perfect white smile. Ceramics worked a little better, but it depended on the quality.
Now, with the appearance of cosmetic dentistry, there is a resolution. Dental fillings no longer fall in the category of general surgery, but are designed in such a way, that both your health and your look will be changed for good. Composite materials and porcelain can be selected in such a way, that they match the natural color of your teeth. Old fillings might be also replaced in order to complete your perfect look.

Dentistry Treatments.

There are the following dentistry treatments:

1. Inlays.

Sometimes, a tooth is planned to be restored with an intracoronal restoration, but the decay or fracture is so extensive that a direct restoration will damage the quality of the tooth. The best way out is to use an inlay. They are also called indirect fillings. Dentists use porcelain and composite materials, while fulfilling the procedure, as these are the most enduring and sturdy materials, known so far. They are used to improve the teeth with decays in them. They are pre-formed in the laboratory and are just attached to the tooth.

2. Composite Bonding.

This procedure is designed for the teeth, which were broken, decayed or chipped in order to restore them. The treatment includes the following steps: applying of dentin into the cavity, shaping it and then hardening it with a special light. The material is designed in such a way that the structure of dentin and the tooth itself blend perfectly. As a result, you get a bright smile without any spots.

3. Teeth Whitening.

Dental bleaching, also known as tooth whitening, is a common procedure in general dentistry but most especially in the field of cosmetic dentistry. Darkening of teeth is caused by the number of reasons, and among them there are aging, tobacco consuming, coffee drinking, bacteria and different kinds of food. Certain antibiotic medications, for instance, tetracycline, also leads to teeth stains. Bleaching the teeth returns the natural look and glister to your smile.

4. Smile Makeover.

A popular saying states "Smiles are given for free." A smile is the easiest and the most effortless way to communicate with the surrounding people. That’s why many companies require their employees to grin; so-called “professional smile” is a sign of a well-respected company.

Smiling has been medically proven to relieve stress. Medical research has shown that it can actually lower blood pressure, boost the immune system and release endorphins, serotonin, and some natural pain relievers. Smile makes the life easier.

Do you lack assurance, that your teeth look perfect? Do you need a smile makeover? The benefits are astonishing.

Smile makeovers engage a complete improvement of one’s smile. Typically, a man needs one or several cosmetic dentistry procedures, including dental implants and teeth whitening. After that, a person gets what he or she wants – perfect smile!

5. Dental Veneers.

Veneers are thin laminates of tooth-colored material (porcelain, ceramic or composite bonding material) that are paved to the front surface of the teeth to improve their cosmetic appearance. Veneers are a quick, painless way to improve your smile, deleting all the cracks and chips. Also they might fill the gaps in the teeth.

6. Dental Implants.

This involves a complete tooth replacement in order not only to enhance your smile, but also to make you look younger and to conceal the defects of the lower part of the face, that might be caused by the teeth deformation.

7. Full mouth reconstruction.

If you have harsh dental problems, you might want to have a full mouth reconstruction. This is a combination of all kinds of dental services. Orthodontic appliances, for instance, can help to position your jaw properly. After that, cosmetic and restorative dentistry procedures are fulfilled. No pain, no stains, no defects. You make your smile just what the doctor ordered.
